From sketch to color 2
I realize i haven´t updated my blog in quite a while...no excuses..anyways! Here goes!
This is something i doodled on when i went on an adventure with 2 friends to Tunisia, north Africa!
A character of mine is having a brave moment as he tries to fight of a monstrous dragon! He usually dwells in his den reading books...So this is sort of outside his comfort zone!
Here is the colored version! I actually colored this digitally in photoshop! Haven´t done that in quite a while, with any personal work! As i tend to do things traditionally and then edit only digitally! But this was very fun actually! And i think i´m discovering my own painting style in the digital world!
I will try to update more often from now on! Until next time! AVAST!!!

humor illustration
A humor illustration i did for Asfalt street magazine! With a caricature of comedian Dag Schreiner.
Dag Schreiner wrote the text the illustration is based on!
For this i used Ecoline liquid ink, white gouache paint and color pencils. + editing in photoshop!

Exam!
So at last i´m done at NKF (Creative college of Norway)
And i had my illustration exam done a week ago! The exam lasted for two weeks, and i was to make 4 illustrations with inspiration from the novella "A brave ant" by Tarjej Vesaas!
I chose to mix the insect world in the story with medieval times to get som exciting elements! And children´s book was the media i chose.
This is my take on the novella and the exam:
Below: Cover for the children´s book. Featuring the brave ant in knights armor befitting an ant!

Exploring the low tide!
Been doing some editorial illustrations for a fictional magazine at school! I chose an activity magazine for children! And its taking place by the Low tide areas!
This is the first label! Featuring the hermit house collecting the many cool things that the low tide leaves behind!
The second label!
Where there´s a hot dog stand! But the hot dogs are replaced with marine sea cucumbers! This makes a lot more sense in norway...since "sea cucumber" actually means sea "sausage" in Norway!
The third label! This is captain Crabbeard! a menacing crab pirate lord that spreads havoc upon the poor starfish that try to fend him off! A mermaid calls the horn of the sea! Is she summoning Crabbeard or alerting enforcements? you figure it out!
All the illustrations are done in traditional watercolors! But i also used some ecoline ink! which has the same effect as watercolors! and white gouache to bring forth details and highlights!
